What is NightLab?

NightLab is a series of after hours adult only events that are held at the South Australian Museum. They are lots of fun and integrate beautiful costumes, interesting facts, silly and creative activities, food, drinks and music.

Celebrate beloved flamingos

This exciting event got its theme from the two beloved flamingos Chile & Greater that are emblems of the Adelaide Feast Festival. Thus the South Australian Museum decided on a bird theme for their last NightLab before Christmas.

So many talented performers

I feel like I am in good company to be invited to be part of NightLab: Birds of a Feather. So many talented individuals will be performing and shaking their tail feathers. Some of the performers who will be featured include DJs, drag queens and burlesque stars. I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful performances.

Feather Printing

I will be bringing along printing blocks that I have previously carved for people to use in the feather print making workshop. There is a female and male red tailed black cockatoo feather. They look so beautiful side by side. I have also made a printing block featuring a lyre bird feather. I like to print this block multiple times in the same piece to create an interesting pattern.

Students at my workshop will be able to design their own composition to create their very own unique masterpiece. I will be providing black ink and paper in multiple different colours. So peoples artworks will be as individual as they are.

I can’t wait to see all the beautiful feather prints that my students create!
